Welcome to our eco team!
Phong Nha Eco Tours have become destination for all kinds of travelers over last three years. Tourism development has many negative consequences, especially on the environment and its inhabitants. Ecotourism is a sustainable way for Phong Nha to develop long term and grow into an eco hub within Vietnam. That’s the reason why we created Eco Phong Nha to provide environmentally friendly activities that create jobs for locals and help them to understand how to use their natural resources in sustainable ways. It will take a long time before people can really understand the positive impacts of being eco-friendly but someone here needed to start and that is what our team at Eco Phong Nha are doing.
This is a big aim that our team is trying to achieve and 5% of the tour cost will go to fund the little education and awareness projects for the locals such as PLASTIC FREE in Phong Nha or working with the kids at surrounding primary schools.
Join Hai and his team on a conservation tour to get involved and learn more.
What makes us different?
Who is Hai?
What is the Wildlife Rescue Center?
The Wildlife Rescue Centre was one of the biggest reasons we created Hai’s Eco Conservation Tour. Due to budget constraints, it has struggled for a number of years; money is needed to buy food, medication, tools, to make improvements on semi-wild enclosures, and to pay staff. All wildlife at the rescue centre are victims of illegal trade and habitat loss. There are NGOs working to stop these illegal activities but there are always more animals in need of a safe haven. Hai’s Eco Conservation Tours support the Rescue Centre financially and brings awareness to this significant issue. Please read more about the Wildlife Rescue Centre here.
Who benefits from this tour?
All the porters and riders of Hai’s Eco Conservation Tour were once hunters and loggers. They were born and bred in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and only knew what their forefathers have done. They were not aware of the consequences of their actions and the destruction they were inadvertently part of. Hunting and logging was for survival and to provide for their families. Since the introduction of Hai’s Eco Conservation Tour, a number of individuals now have sustainable jobs which provide a good income to support their families and slowly, these individuals and their families are learning more and more about nature conservation in order to protect it. Being native to this area, they deserve more than anyone, to be an integral part of tourism development. By supporting Hai, you are supporting the local community, and indirectly ensuring the continued magnificence of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
Which projects are we doing?
5% of the tour benefit will go to the Eco Fund run by our eco team in order to raise the education and awareness program for kids and the Plastic Free campaign in Phong Nha.
Plastic Free Campaign
PLASTIC is a huge problem for the environment nowadays and it requires the human reaction on it to keep our planet clean for the future generation. Since Phong Nha has been becoming a newly attractive tourism destination in Vietnam recently, there are many environmental issues coming up for next couple of years. But we still can work on it now to build Phong Nha as a PLASTIC FREE destination in Vietnam if we start immediately with all the businesses in this region. That's the reason why we have started this Campaign to ask all the restaurants, hotels, homestays and tour operators reduce using the plastic products and stop in the future or buying the reusable products. This is a long - term project and needs support from many people.
Educationa & Awareness for Kids
The Eco Fund will help us to create some programs to raise the awareness for some schools around Phong Nha. We realize the importance with education for the kids, the future generation. We plan to bring them to see the wildlife rescue center and learn to know about the animals and the bad stories behind; Taking them to the jungle to enjoy the nature and learn to know about the natural habitats of the plants and animals; Encouraging them to clean all the rubbishes along the touris trails and where they live; Organizing some contests about conservation and environment protection and recycling the wastes.
Overall, we are trying to make the kids understanding their role in the environment protection.
